Invitation to International Rally Sweden Skåne Rundt 30th - 31th August, 2008
The rally organizer is Motorcykelhistoriska Klubben Syd, MCHK Syd. (The southern section of the Swedish Historic Motorcycle Club)
Skåne Rundt is an annual international rally for riders and passengers on motorcycles made no later than 31st December 1945. The rally contains activity stages for both riders and passengers. The route covers about 500 km around the province of Skåne.
We offer nearly the same feature this year except that we will ride through Skåne clock-wise and we have included a handicap system for drivers on the older motor cycles.
After the start in Helsingborg we first ride to Ring Knutstorp, and then we head northeast on minor roads to the lunch stop at Broby hostelry. After lunch we are heading southwards and take a coffee break in Simrishamn. From there we continue southwards along the coastal road to Ystad. The overnight accommodation will be at Ystads Saltsjöbad which is a hotel with the capacity and high standard that we are keen to offer our participants.
NB! Smoking is completely prohibited inside the hotel. A fine of SEK 1000 is payable if this is not complied with.
On Sunday morning we start by following the road along the coast to Smygehamn, the most southern part of Sweden. On miner roads we continue northwest via Genarp, Torna Hällestad and Furulund to Löddeköpinge where we have lunch. Then we ride the final stage via the well known Saxtorp to the finish in Helsingborg, where the prize-giving ceremony will take place and will round off the rally.
About 60 people are involved in running the rally as it takes place. They will be at checkpoints along the route, in break-down vehicles and at our reception desk.
Postal address: Skåne Rundt Göran Svensson Pilgatan 14 S 234 31 LOMMA

Route description and signposting
In certain sections where navigation can be difficult, for example in road junctions, roundabouts or in urban areas and also through the “time-sectors”, the navigation will be aided by signs displaying the symbols below:
▲ Go straight on
■ Turn left
● Turn right
The signs will be square (30x30 cm) with a white background, and the symbol is black in the centre of the sign. The signs will be placed about 50 cm above the ground and about 75-100 m before the location that the sign refers to. The road book will also state where on the route these signs will be placed.
During timed stages with selected average speed, the speedometer must be covered. If not, this stage will not be approved and the participant will be awarded the maximum number of penalty points for the stage.

Most of the rally is ridden on tarmac roads, but some gravel roads may also be included.
