Information and invitation to International Rally Sweden Skåne Rundt
27 - 28 August 2005
Skåne Rundt International Rally.
An annual international rally for riders and passengers on motorcycles made no later than 31 December 1945.
The rally contains activity stages for both riders and passengers. The route covers about 550 km around the province of Skåne. After the start in Helsingborg we first ride northwards and thereafter across the northern part of the province to the east coast. From there we continue southwards along the coast to Ystad, where we will spend the night. On Sunday morning we start by following the southernmost coastal road westwards, and we then head north on minor roads to the lunch stop at “Kalle på Spången” in Ljungbyhed. After lunch we ride the final stage to the finish, which is at Fredriksdals Friluftsmuseum in Helsingborg. The prize-giving ceremony will also take place there and will round off the rally.
As in previous years, the Skåne Rundt rally will cover approximately the same roads as the pioneers did in 1912. A new feature this year is that we will ride through Skåne clock-wise, because the overnight accommodation will be at Hotel Ystad Saltsjöbad in the town of Ystad, which is a hotel with the capacity and high standard that we are keen to offer all participants. This also means that we can increase the number of participants in the rally. NB! Smoking is completely prohibited inside the hotel. A fine of SEK 1000 is payable if this is not complied with.
About 60 people are involved in running the rally as it takes place. They will be at checkpoints along the route, in break-down vehicles and at our reception desk.
In certain sections where navigation can be difficult, for example in road junctions, roundabouts or in urban areas, navigation will be aided by signs displaying the symbols below:
Go straight on - Turn left - Turn right
The signs will be square (30x30 cm) with a white background, and the symbol will be black in the center of the sign. The signs will be placed about 50 cm abowe the ground and about 75-100 m before the location that the sign refers to. The road book will also state where on the route these signs will be placed. During timed stages with selected average speed, the motorcycle´s speedometer must be covered. If not , this stage will not be approved and the participant will be awarded the maximum number of penalty points for the stage.
Rules and regulations Vehicles must fulfil the legal requirements that apply to riding on public roads in each participant´s home country. Riders are responsible for en-suring that their passengers adhere to legal requirements. Participating motorcycles must have valid road insurance during the rally.
